Nutrition

When will we know that enough is enough and that our weight issue needs to be addressed? Adults need to set the path to an increased routine of physical activity. Coming home from work, plopping yourself in front of the TV watching "Everyone Loves Raymond" is only a habit that will transcend to the next generation. Albeit, the TV is switched to the use of the computer/video games, children are becoming overweight at an increasing rate year after year. The lack of nutritional education is the cause for this treatable disease called "obesity." So go out there and find proper knowledge with nutrition. Go out there and understand all those nutritional labels companies place on their packages, boxes, cans. Understand that Nutrition is not going to be found in convenience of fast food establishments, soda, and with Raymond.

I loved the part in this chapter that suggests the airlines should charge per weight of a passenger, including luggage. I am a frequent flyer and have to incur the increasing costs of tickets because the plane needs more fuel than before. The average weight of a passenger has increased in the last couple of years. I agree that there needs to be some form of extreme measure to save the lifes of overweight people, because obviously they are not going to do it themselves.

Here's a great article for all those who wish to believe it's not a problem being overweight:

Fat Workers Cost More

Being an owner of a medium size corporation, I may begin to implement some measures and cross my fingers my employees will not take it the wrong way.

Being overweight is just like being an alcoholic. It's a self-imposing problem sweeping across the United States by the masses (no pun intented). The governent needs to stop listening to fast food lobbyists and start listening to the cries of all the overweight children cramming our schools. When a child cannot fit in a normal desk, the solution is to educate them to a healthy lifestyle - not to make everyone sit at a table.

I agree that being overweight is a very "preventable" disease with the correct nutritional knowledge. The only nutrition knowledge they teach about in schools is the food pyramid - then they serve Pizza Hut and Taco Bell at lunch.

I'll admit, I'm overweight, but it doesn't mean that I can switch in an instant.....I've tried Weight Watchers, I've tried Nutri System, that Hoodia, and I'm still overweight. It's not something that is easy guys. A little bit of consideration would be great where all I get is stares when I enter a McDonald's or Taco Bell.

To me overeating is similar to drinking alcohol. Food gives the body a buzz when swallowed and it is the habitual movements that must be broken before any attempt to change mentally. Combined with knowledge of the proper nutritional diet for one's own body, we can eventually shed those pounds.

Airlines will not be charging more. As Thomas says lawsuits will flood the court houses if this would happen. Funny that as bad as obesity is, as much as it's self-inflicting, people would rather put the finger at someone else because of their weight issue.

Eat smaller portions, and exercise more has always been the key to my success in keeping the weight off. Your not going to lose the weight sitting in front of your computer all day checking your myspace account or watching Ellen on tv. MOVE PEOPLE!!! GET OFF YOUR BEHIND AND MOVE!!!! WALK, SWIM, SKATE, DO JUMPING JACKS FOR CHRIST SAKE!@!!!!!@!@!@!!!!!@!
